Tips not for Computers Geeks

This summer, don't just buy any new laptop that is cheap. Chromebooks are probably a bad choice bought new because you can convert an old beatup standard laptop into a fairly useable chromebook. Also, if you have time, build a desktop machine and run free VMs on it to try out Chrome OS and see if you like its limiting features....Neverware CloudReady is a good way to test out Chrome OS. Most gaming laptops are simply not worth the money, because the graphics cards are not beefy enough for your money of 1k to 3k. If you really need a laptop for school, and don't want a Chromebook consider buying a Zenbook. I have the old UX305 which is faily usable with 250GB SSD and 8GB of ram. Most laptop these days have low specs and not really bang for your buck. Also the warranty is simply not going to last you very long. If price is a concern, you should wait until you have enough money for a better laptop or computer. Take advice from multiple sources and consider the pros and cons when you buy a laptop. Be careful of used laptops that you buy from resellers and try to avoid refurbished laptops.
Thanks,
Eugene
